KidWorks Sensational Science Camp

KidWorks Spring Break Science camp is always a big hit with our students and this year will be no exception. Camp will be taking place April 1-5 at all four centers for students in grades K-5.

This year we are focusing once again on science, especially STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math).

KidWorks Spring Break Theme for 2019 is Sensational Science Camp. Our students will be treated to hands-on exploration including designing a roller coaster, making play dough, designing a space suit, doing a cooking challenge plus a few surprises along the way!

“Spring break at KidWorks is a brief pause from school, time to make new friends and renew existing friendships and a fun way to explore science concepts that incorporate technology and outdoor kinesthetic learning,” says Jacky Hernandez, Program Assistant/Program Leader at our Dan Donahue Center.

Jacky adds, “We are deeply grateful to PBS, who is providing hands-on curriculum and camp activities focused on various science concepts.  PBS has been providing curriculum during other times during the school year, and their learning materials and activities have been a giant hit with our kids.”

Making a repeat appearance will be PBS’ very own Ruff Ruffman,  the science dog who makes science fun.

Jacky says that over 200 students will be engaged in hands-on labs and workshops that require problem-solving, creativity, critical thinking and collaboration while teaching foundational skills that will help them as they pursue 21st Century careers.

In addition to the science aspect, our kids will also enjoy a full menu of sports, technology, games and other fun surprises.

As you consider volunteering, please note that you don’t have to be an astrophysicist or Albert Einstein to help out with our STEM activities.  Your help in making sure everything runs smoothly is the perfect gift.  We promise, no trigonometry pop quizzes!
