Sound a little like college curriculum?

It’s actually some of the subject matter our youngest scholars delve into when enrolled in our state-licensed preschool.

The KidWorks’ preschool has for many years given our youngest learners the solid foundation that they carry with them from kindergarten right through college or university, says Idalia Galdamez, Preschool Director.  It’s not day care by any means; it’s a vibrant classroom where minds are stimulated and developed. These students have worked hard and are now one step closer on the path towards college success.

The National Education Association (NEA) cites these vital findings about what it calls the “Long-Term Benefits of Early Childhood Education”:

  • Research shows that providing a high-quality education for children before they turn five yields significant long-term benefits.

  • One well-known study, the HighScope Perry Preschool Study, found that individuals who were enrolled in a quality preschool program ultimately earned up to $2,000 more per month than those who were not. Young people who were in preschool programs are more likely to graduate from high school, to own homes, and have longer marriages.

  • Other studies, like the Abecedarian Project, show similar results. Children in quality preschool programs are less likely to repeat grades, need special education, or get into future trouble with the law.

“At KidWorks, we believe learning is a lifelong, enjoyable and a challenging experience,” Idalia says.  “Our preschool provides the children a well-balanced program on a daily basis.  Each day the children are given opportunities to participate in music, literacy, science, math, art, reading time, inside free play, dramatic play and outside time.”

Adds Idalia, “Children learn while they explore and play.  Learning takes place through these daily experiences and the children are able to develop socially, mentally and physically.  Our goal is to see all of our preschool students ready for kindergarten by the end of the year.  Children begin this transition on the first day of preschool.”

Idalia says involving the family is key to KidWorks’ approach.  “Our primary goal is a successful transition from preschool to kindergarten for every child and family,” she says.  “We collaborate and assist parents in making a meaningful difference in their child’s education.  Our KidWorks’ Parent Engagement Program does an amazing job bringing the resources/workshops during the year to ensure parents know how a successful program works and how to navigate the school system.”

KidWorks’ preschool is very strategic when selecting the curriculum for our young scholars.  Each month, there is a specific focus area for math, science, fitness/physical education, color, and social studies.

Our preschooler’s year of learning culminates with the preschool graduation ceremony. We invite you to join us as we celebrate the first of many graduation ceremonies for our youngest students. That includes 48 students ages three and four.
