The KidWorks’ Parent Advisory Council is a remarkable group of moms and dads who’ve done so much to bring others to our centers, improve the community and support those we serve in numerous ways. Antonienta Pintor is a longtime member of the council—and one its most dedicated and effective members. She’s been an engaged parent with KidWorks for many years and has seen her children benefit from our programs. Antonienta, like so many parents of students enrolled in our programs, believes that doing her part to support KidWorks is not an obligation, but a joy.
Name: Antonienta Pintor
City: Santa Ana
Role at KidWorks: I serve on the Parents Advisory Council (PAC) and try to serve wherever and whenever possible.
How did you become involved with KidWorks?
My daughter Lorena, who is now 24 years old, began in KidWorks when the first center was still up and it was called "Los Puentes" in 2005. I now currently have my other three children enrolled in the Townsend center.
Share the most meaningful experiences you’ve had at KidWorks? What made them impactful to you?
I have so many fond memories serving alongside KidWorks staff. Everyone is so helpful and kind, and they truly want to make a difference in the lives of my children.
Can you talk about some of the biggest obstacles KidWorks' programming overcame when you were involved?
Over the years, there have been lots of challenges with gang violence in the Townsend neighborhood. Our Parent Advisory Council took the initiative to partner with the Santa Ana Police Department to make our streets safer for children and families.
What does KidWorks mean to you? Looking back, how did KidWorks help to shape your life? How did KidWorks help to influence the person you are today?
KidWorks has been a tremendous support system to both myself and my children. I have learned how to better communicate with my children and support them in school.
What are your dreams for KidWorks over the next 10, 20, or 30 years?
I want more families to become involved with our Parents Advisory Council and take advantage of all that KidWorks provides.
