Cory Alder, KidWorks’ Board Chair and President of Nexus Development, added an extra measure of excitement to our January Youth Lock-In by donating trips to Disneyland for two lucky families.
Lock-in is an annual event for grades six through 12 that includes fellowship, games, prayer time and wellness activities during the 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. gathering.
“Donating the Disney packages was a way to encourage positive feelings and participation in all the activities,” Cory says. “It was a way to add something new to an event that KidWorks youth look forward to each year.”
The Disney prize included a pass to the park, a hotel stay and covering all costs related to parking, resort fees and allowing early check in/late check out.
Mom Vanessa Tlatenchi enjoyed the day with her children, Drayden, 12; Dayson, 11 and Darren, seven. (The second family who won the Disney package is still in the process of scheduling their visit.)
“We are thankful to Cory for a wonderful Disney experience,” Vanessa says. “After getting to the hotel, the kids couldn’t wait to enjoy the waterslides and pool. We loved every minute. Thank you really isn’t enough to express how grateful and overjoyed you’ve made us.”
Her children also expressed their appreciation:
Drayden: “The most fun thing to me was Thunder Mountain, the food and spending time with my family.”
Dayson: “My favorite thing was the hotel and the food from the hotel.”
Darren: “My favorite thing was the hotel, water slide and the food.”
We join this family in thanking Cory for making the Youth Lock-in event even more special this year.
