Erika works at Biola University and is a former KidWorks staff member
Xitlaly is a math teacher at a middle school in Anaheim

Share the most meaningful experiences you’ve had at KidWorks? What made them impactful to you?
Watching my children graduate from college. KidWorks was instrumental in helping them prepare for college and supporting them in school. I am so proud of each of them.
Can you talk about some of the biggest obstacles KidWorks' programming overcame when you were involved?
When I first started, there were limited learning opportunities for families at KidWorks. Today, our Parents Advisory Council (PAC) includes a highly active group of parent leaders who meet monthly. We help plan events and workshops for parents in the community including Posada and our parents conference. I believe the more KidWorks parents learn and are involved, the more our children become engaged at KidWorks.
What does KidWorks mean to you? Looking back, how did KidWorks help to shape your life? How did KidWorks help to influence the person you are today?
My family is very grateful for the love and support we have received from staff. KidWorks provided a safe environment for my children to learn and grow. On a personal level, I’m grateful for the leadership skills I gained by serving on the Parent Advisory Council. It is a tremendous blessing and privilege for me to mentor the next generation of families at KidWorks.
What are your dreams for KidWorks over the next 10, 20, or 30 years?
My dream is for more families to get involved with KidWorks and for God to raise up new leaders.
Anything else you would like to share about KidWorks?
With God’s help, I hope KidWorks continues to flourish in Santa Ana. My prayer is KidWorks can continue to be a blessing to the next generation of students and families.
