Easter was EGGstrodinary at KidWorks

Seventy-five KidWorks students from kindergarten through fifth grade didn’t have to “hunt” too far to find a perfect way to celebrate Easter: They all took part in the Easter EGGstravaganza fully led by our KidWorks Women (KWW) service committee.

We are so grateful to event Co-Chairs Stephanie Peleuses and Camille Strader and KWW members, who handled everything, including event planning and all details during the April 3 event at our Dan Donahue Center.

That includes the generous donation by KWW committee members of all supplies, decorations, snacks and craft supplies, plus financial contributions.

The women also staffed all the stations at the event itself.

EGGstravaganza is yet another example of how KidWorks Women is making such a positive impact through events, fundraising and inviting others to KidWorks to serve as volunteers.

“The purpose of the Easter event was to connect women from the community with students from KidWorks through a service project,” Stephanie says. “We had 30 volunteers who danced, played games, hid eggs, read stories and helped with crafts and snacks.”

Adds Camille, “Every student enjoyed the egg hunt, craft station, photo with the Easter bunny, snacks, games and learning the Easter story.”

We also thank Cesar Plascencia for his support. The event committee also funded a photo and framing for each child.

“It was so fun to see the smiles on all of the kids’ faces,” Camille says. “The energy at the center that day was amazing.”

“Many of our event volunteers experienced KidWorks for the first time and were impressed by the children and facility,” Stephanie says.

While next Easter is still a year away, KWW is looking forward to making this first-time event an annual one. Thank you, KidWorks Women committee!
