Birthdays have always been a big deal at KidWorks. Every year, students like Hermoine look forward to celebrating their birthdays alongside friends and teachers at the Dan Donahue center. This year, she thought her birthday would pass by unnoticed.
Thankfully, Ms. Daisy made Hermoine's birthday meaningful when she surprised her with a virtual birthday celebration over Zoom during her tutoring session last week. Hermoine felt loved and was thrilled to celebrate her birthday alongside her friends and teachers.
Thankfully, we are able to connect with our students in new and creative ways during COVID-19. One of the unexpected blessings is that we are serving more students than ever through 1:1 virtual tutoring sessions. Many KidWorks parents don't have the bandwidth during COVID to support their student's online learning, making our tutoring sessions critical in preparing them for their return to school this fall.
Virtual tutoring sessions provide more than homework help, it is a chance for personal connection. KidWorks staff remain digitally connected with students, counseling them through fear and uncertainty. Students and parents alike have come to trust KidWorks staff as the trusted resource in their community.
