Thanks to you, KidWorks continues to walk alongside our students in the midst of times of chaos and confusion. Although we are all experiencing some emotionally heavy times, in fact for this same reason, I think it is important to highlight and celebrate the 2020 graduates of KidWorks who are our stars. These bright, energetic, resilient young leaders give me hope for the future!
Many of our graduation activities and plans have been overshadowed by COVID-19 and the unrest in our nation. Despite so much uncertainty, the Class of 2020 deserves to be celebrated for their perseverance and achievement. For the sixth consecutive year, I00% of KidWorks high school seniors will graduate on time and I00% will continue their education this fall.
Last Friday, we hosted our 1st ever Virtual prom and students ended the week on a high note. Yet 24 hours later, protests in Santa Ana turned into chaos and destruction, several local businesses were broken into and looted.
On Sunday morning, these some of these same students joined together with KidWorks alumni and members of the community to clean up the damage from the night before.
While academic achievements are wonderful and important, I must admit, right now I feel like a proud dad watching our youth moved into action to give back to their community.
Leadership, integrity and character development are critical components of the KidWorks DNA and I witnessed it spring to life!
Together, we need to continue to invest in these young lives, who are the future. Our walk with students is more important than ever before!
We invite you to walk alongside the Class of 2020 as they pursue their dreams of college success!
