Enrique: A KidWorks success story

When now 19-year-old Enrique Vega was about to graduate from high school in Spring 2022, he was carefully considering three potential career paths: forensic scientist, history teacher or bioengineer.

But there was a problem. Enrique realized he didn’t have a true passion for any of them. Enrique’s real longing was for a career in culinary arts.

KW Alumni Spotlight: Gilda Gallardo

For many years, Gilda I. Gallardo kept a three-by-five index card with her. Over time, it became bent, crinkled, worn and torn.

“The condition of that card was a metaphor for how I felt about myself,” says Gilda, now 26-years-old, and a graduate of KidWorks’ programs. “But the single word written on that card let me know I would persevere. It read: IM*POSSIBLE.”

Leadership development is one of our three key recently announced Program Success Strategies.  A perfect example of how this strategy is being actively developed and deployed is our recently launched Alumni Leadership Council.

The Alumni Leadership Council is comprised of KidWorks “grads”—namely people attending college/university or in the workforce who had been part of our various programs.  Some alumni have been KidWorks students since kindergarten, and others joined in later grades.

Resolve.  One definition of the word is to “decide firmly on a course of action.

Our resolve is stronger than ever to make 2019 the most beneficial experience possible for the hundreds of students and families we serve at KidWorks.

Another variation of the word resolve is resolution.
